Scope and Contents

Two unpublished letters, one of Sir Walter Scott to John Wilson Crocker and the other of Ann Scott to her granddaughter Jessie, are reproduced in the text. The volume also includes a pedigree, from which one leaf is missing, showing the descendants of Sir Walter and Thomas Scott, and portraits of Thomas Scott, his wife and his mother, as well as other family photographs.

Scope and Contents

Rose`s work was first written in 1683-1684: Shaw`s epitome records also later members of the family until about 1756 (folio 69 verso), with a supplement until about 1772 (folio 83 verso). This copy appears to have been written for the antiquary William Rose in Montcoffer in the same hand as Adv.MS.32.6.8, and has a note inside the front cover, a contents list at folio 1 and a few textual additions in his hand.

Dates: 3rd quarter of 18th century.
